Anglo-Indian Mahogany Oval tableMid 19th century
An elegant and unique Regency style single pedestal tilt-top dining table made of rare and beautiful Cuban mahogany. The oval top measures 156 cm x 106 cm (61½” x 41½”) and is made of a single plank(!). The solid base has a sophisticated carved central pillar on a flat platform which is supported on four reeded legs with brass lion-paw feet on castors.
The table was found in Bombay, India and made during the colonial era.
The table is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The mahogany has a rich warm shade with a striking grain.
