Anglo-Indian mahogany pedestal side boardEarly 19th century
A fine Anglo-Indian mahogany pedestal sideboard. The sideboard sits on two rectangular piers with hinged doors that open to an interior with one central shelf. The paneled doors with nice decorative carving. The top of the sideboard has an edge with egg and dart carving that extends beyond the base and sets back approximately one inch in the middle section above the central wide drawer. Flanking this central drawer are other drawers which are the same width as the piers. The top of the sideboard is carved from a single plank of mahogany.
The sensational ornate gallery is relief carved with a floral design. The total height including the gallery is 50 ½” or 128 cm
The sideboard is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing.
