British Colonial Rosewood Round Dining Table

Mid 19th century

A beautiful antique British colonial dining table in rosewood. The large circular top with gadrooning on the edge above the carved apron. It is supported on a column that is surrounded by three curved and scrolled spindles and rests on a flat tri-form base with hollowed side and claw feet. The column is composed of three carved sections, the lower section encircled by a wide band of leaves.
The top of the table is hinged to the central column in such a way that it can be tilted from a horizontal to a vertical position.

The table is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The rosewood has a dark shade with a striking grain.
