A British colonial partners’ desk with a nicely contrasting mahogany top within a rosewood frame featuring a gadrooned edge. It sits above a frieze with three drawers with brass handles on both sides. The desk is made in the form of a partners’ desk, with fittings on both sides so that it can also easily stand in the center of a room. The desk stands on four carved legs that are bulbous at the top, tapering and flare out at the bottom to end in a bun foot.

Partners’ desks were first made to accommodate banking partners, usually senior bank officials who wished to work together while keeping the convenience and the prestige of a (pedestal) desk.
