British Colonial Rosewood Writing Desk

Mid 19th century

An elegant Anglo-Indian or British colonial rosewood writing desk with gadrooning on the moulded edge of the writing surface. It features one long drawer flanked by two short drawers, all with cock beaded edges and brass pulls. The reeded legs are turned and tapered, with rings and a ball at the top and ending with a collared pegged foot. Can be used as a console table too.

The table is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
