Anglo-Indian Teakwood Extending Dining TableMid 19th century
An exceptional British colonial teakwood dining table with rounded corners. The top, with a deep moulded edge, extends well beyond the base. The table has a telescopic under-frame that extends via a winding mechanism, which allows the table to be fully extended while the centre leg remains in place. It has four (!) additional leaves: 2 x 55 cm and 2 x 59 cm. The elegant legs, with a bulbous top and tapering shafts, terminate in brass casters. Fully extended, the table measures 408 cm x 138 cm (or 13 ft 4” x 4 ft 6”) and can seat 14 people comfortably.
