Anglo-Indian Teakwood Extending Dining TableMid 19th century
An exceptional British colonial teakwood dining table with rounded corners. The top, with a deep moulded edge, extends well beyond the base. The table has a telescopic under-frame that extends via a winding mechanism, which allows the table to be fully extended while the fifth or center leg remains in place. It has three additional leaves, each will add another 44 cm (17½”) to the tables length of 184 cm (72½”). The elegant legs, with a bulbous top and tapering shafts, terminate in brass casters. Fully extended, the table measures 316 cm x 122 cm and can seat 10 people comfortably.
The table is in in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing.
