British Colonial Rosewood SideboardEarly 19th century
An elegant serpentine shaped British colonial sideboard in rosewood with a top made of one piece of wood. It has a deep centre drawer flanked by side sections. The left section contains two drawers, the right section a door (looks like two false drawers) hiding one shelf. All drawers with single mouldings, brass handles and a brass escutcheon . There are six turned and reeded legs ending in a spade foot.
The sideboard is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
