British Colonial Rosewood Display Cabinet

Mid 19th century

A beautiful British display cabinet in rosewood with a flat overhanging top with egg and dart carving on the edge and floral carving on the frieze. The cabinet has double doors with ten bevelled glass panels within a profusely carved rosewood frame; they
open to an interior in teakwood with four teakwood shelves that have a rosewood rim. Both sides have five bevelled glass panels too so you can see through the cabinet. The bottom finished with egg and dart carving on the edge and resting on four melon sectioned inverted cup feet.

The cabinet is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
