British Colonial Rosewood Pedestal Table with Marble Top

Mid 19th century

A beautiful and good size British colonial dining table in rosewood. The new round marble top rests on a wooden top with moulded edges above and below the short apron. The table stands on a solid central pillar on a quatrefoil base with hollowed sides resting on four scrolled and carved feet. It has beautiful carved leaf embellishments on the apron and hollowed sides of the base. This table would comfortably seat six persons.

The table is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain. The marble top has been replaced.
