British Colonial Rosewood Side TableMid 19th century
An antique British colonial side table in rosewood. The table consists of a tilting round top supported on a column that rests on a triangular base with scrolled feet.
The top is carved around the edges with a stylized border of leaves above an applied apron that is carved and pierced with leaves. The column is beautifully turned and carved with floral designs. The base densely carved and pierced with leaves in a pattern repeated from the top.
The table is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made off has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
