British Colonial Teakwood Chest of Drawers with Two Doors

Late 19th century

An unusual British colonial teakwood chest of drawers with a rectangular moulded top and enclosed by two doors. The doors open to an interior with a total of six drawers; three short drawers over three long ones. All of the drawers are flush fitting with the original recessed brass handles and have ebony escutcheons. The piece rests on four bun feet.

The chest is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Burma teak wood that this piece has been made of has a warm color and an attractive, straight grain.
