Anglo-Indian Mahogany Four Poster Bed -SOLD
Mid 19th centuryA late Regency, king sized four-poster bed in mahogany. The headboard is a rectangular block, with a curving with two floral carvings on top. It is further defined by horizontally-positioned slats and openings above small vertical slats.
The four parts making the canopy are attached to the brass top of the posts. On top of each post a nice finial. The posts themselves are plain at the top with a ring followed by a tapered reeded section and a cylinder of spiral reeding, while at the frame the legs are square, taper and rest on claw feet. The bed can be fully disassembled.
The bed is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The mahogany has a rich warm shade with a striking grain.
