British Colonial Rosewood Centre Table

Mid 19th century

A stunning antique British colonial centre table in rosewood. The serpentine round top rest on six legs, beautifully carved in elaborate rococo fashion.  The apron on all six sides is beautifully carved and pierced with foliate designs and where the legs meet the apron, it features elephant heads. The six cabriole legs are also richly carved with a floral design and terminate in leafy scrolls on a peg foot. They are joined by carved and scrolled stretchers that meet in a central turned finial. A truly unique piece.

The table is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The rosewood has a dark shade with a striking grain
