British Colonial Rosewood Sideboard
Mid 19th centuryA beautifully carved and pierced British colonial sideboard in rosewood. The overhanging top is made of one piece of rosewood and has a carved edge around. The front is mounted with three hinged doors that are boldly carved and pierced with a design of intertwining vines and birds at the bottom. The piece stands on a carved base resting on four small cabriole feet ending in a claw. The teakwood interior is fitted with one shelve.
The sideboard is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The mahogany has a rich warm shade with a striking grain. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made off has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
