British Colonial Rosewood Glass Front Cabinet

Mid 19th century

A beautiful British colonial glass front cabinet in rosewood with a flat overhanging top, gadrooning on the edge and Fleur-de-Lis carving on the frieze. The cabinet has double doors with ten bevelled glass panels within a rosewood frame; they open to reveal four shelves.  The bottom finished with gadrooning on the edge and resting on four bun feet ending in a peg and a ring.

The cupboard is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
