British Colonial Regency Mahogany Dining Table
Mid 19th centuryA beautiful, antique British colonial mahogany dining table. The spectacular circular top is beautifully figured with a gadrooned edge above a reeded apron. The top is hinged to the central pedestal in such a way that it can be turned from a horizontal to a vertical position and, thereby, when not in use, take up less space. It stands on a cylindrical turned pedestal with a beautifully carved baluster support and four splayed legs ending in brass lion head castors. The table is of lovely large proportions and would easily seat eight.
The table is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The mahogany has a rich warm shade with a striking grain.
