





























British Colonial Rosewood Dressing Box
Late 19th centuryThis rosewood dressing box opens to reveal a beveled mirror flanked on both sides by reverse original painted glass. Inside there is plenty of storage and several hidden compartments. It is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing.
The portable personal dressing box was popular from the end of the eighteen century to the third quarter of the nineteenth century. The increased mobility for social reasons which gathered momentum as the century progressed, made this personal accessory indispensable.
