British Colonial Cedarwood and Ebony Trinket BoxLate 19th century
A fine British colonial cedarwood trinket box. The entire body has been ornamented with carved ebony in a floral design. Because ebony has a dark shade, it is giving a sharply defined contrast to the cedarwood the box is made of. The box rests on small ebony claw feet and has brass carrying handles on the side.
The box is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing.
