British Colonial Teakwood Cylinder Desk
Late 19th centuryAn elegant British colonial teakwood cylinder desk with a rectangular moulded top and a cylinder fall front. The top opens to reveal a fitted interior which consists of one drawer with a brass pull and eight other storage compartments. It features a pull out writing slide with a framed leather surface. Below this writing surface two drawers with a brass handle. The desk stands on four solid legs, whereby each front and rear leg are connected with a stretcher. The writing height is 79 cm or 31”.
The desk is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing.
