British Colonial Rosewood Chaise Longue
Mid 19th centuryA British colonial chaise longue in rosewood with a beautifully carved framework and newly re-caned in a typical colonial design. The moulded back frame sweeps down and terminates in a scroll The chaise stands on four short reeded tapering legs ending in a collared peg. The seat height is 35 cm or 13½”.
The chaise is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
