British Colonial Mahogany SideboardEarly 19th century
An antique British colonial sideboard in dark mahogany with a serpentine shaped top made of one piece of wood. It has a deep centre drawer flanked by side sections. The left section contains two drawers, the right section a door (looks like two false drawers) hiding one shelf. All drawers with single mouldings, brass lion- head pulls and a brass escutcheon . The piece stands on six turned and reeded legs ending in a spade foot.
The sideboard is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The mahogany has a rich warm shade with a striking grain.
