British Colonial Walnut Secretaire Chest of Drawers

Late 19th century

A beautiful British colonial secretaire chest of drawers in richly grained walnut wood. The secretaire or writing drawer is positioned above two long drawers. The writing flap pulls out and drops down to reveal a fitted interior with two small drawers, a central lockable compartment and six arched pigeon holes. It features many secret compartments too….
All of the drawers are flush fitting with the original recessed brass handles and have a cock beaded drawer front. This remarkable piece rests on solid bun feet.

The chest of drawers is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing.
