A vintage pair of carved and painted horses from Madras with distressed patina.
Horses represent valour and chivalry. This colourful pair is mounted proudly on stands made of teakwood coloured in vegetable paints. Each horse is embellished with incised and painted trappings on breastplates, patterned saddle cloths, and finely outlined bridles and reins. Displayed as a pair, they have a strong sculptural presence and bring a lively, folkloric character to a console, chest, or sideboard.
