British Colonial Rosewood Square Tilt Top Side Table
Mid 19th centurySGD 2,550
In the Bombay blackwood tradition, this restored colonial rosewood tilt-top table features a square top framed by a finely carved foliate border and an ornamental pierced apron. The rich, dark finish highlights the sculptural carving, while the tilting mechanism allows the top to be raised vertically for compact storage. An elaborately carved central pedestal rises from a quadraform base, with scrolling decoration along its concave edges and carved feet. Combining practical versatility with a strong decorative presence, the table makes an elegant occasional piece or a distinctive display surface.
The table is in good condition and have been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional from of French polishing and waxing. The mahogany has a rich warm shade with a striking grain.
