Pair of British Colonial Burmese Teakwood Side Tables

Late 19th century

SGD 3,250

A pair of elegant British Colonial round side tables made in durable teakwood. Each table stands on four turned legs joined by an architectural X‑stretcher with central finial, giving excellent stability and an elegant, almost pedestal‑like presence.

The frieze is enriched with carved scrollwork and stylised foliage, echoing late 19th‑century Anglo‑Indian and British colonial influences while remaining clean enough for contemporary interiors. Generous circular tops provide practical surface area for lamps, books or objets d’art, making this matched pair ideal as side tables flanking a sofa, bedside tables, or statement pieces in an entryway.

The tables are in good condition and have been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The teakwood has a rich warm golden shade with a smooth grain.
