British Colonial Rosewood Glass Front Cabinet
Late 19th -Early 20th centurySGD 4,100
A beautiful antique British colonial glass front cabinet in rosewood with an overhanging top with gadrooning at the edges. The frieze is relief carved in a wave pattern with a floral block at centre and a rosette in the corners. The cabinet
has double doors, each with five bevelled glass panels within a rosewood frame; they open to reveal four shelves. The base has gadrooning at the edges and rests on four melon sectioned inverted cup feet.
The bookcase is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
