British Colonial Teakwood Four Poster Bed
Mid 19th centuryA British colonial super king sized four-poster bed made of teakwood. The curved headboard has a shell carving at centre flanked by carved scrolls ending in a floral design. The headboard is further defined by vertically-positioned slats and five openings which are decorated with pierced ovals that display floral designs at the top and bottom. Each post can be dismantled in two parts and is plain at the top with a ring followed by a tapered section and a ring where the post can be dismantled. The bed, that can be fully disassembled, rests on short legs ending in a peg foot.

The bed is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing.
