Anglo-Indian Rosewood Linen Press – SOLDMid 19th century
A British colonial cupboard made of rosewood. The upper section has a flat top, egg and dart carving on the edge and wave carving on the frieze.
The floating panels of the doors are boldly carved with a large oval sunburst design, centered by an oval disk and a rosette and leaf embellishment in the corners. The frames carved with elongated reserves and carved circles in the corners.
The interior in mahogany and is fitted with three sliding shelves.
The lower part comprises two small drawers over two larger ones. It features a gadrooned edge at the top and bottom, wooden knobs on the drawers and rests on melon sectioned tapered feet.
