British Colonial Rosewood Center Sofa
Mid 19th centuryAn antique British colonial center sofa in rosewood with a beautifully carved framework. Unlike a chaise longue, this sofa does not have a backrest. It would have been made to stand (close to) the middle of a room or in front of a window where it would not block the view. It could also be fitted for an alcove and placed parallel to a wall. The sofa has been newly upholstered with a quality velvet fabric, finished with double piping and comes with two lovely black bolster cushions with ruched button ends. The sofa stands on four short tapering legs ending in a peg.
