British Colonial Mahogany Games Table
Mid 19th centuryA beautiful games table fully made of dark mahogany. The serpentine shaped top rests, when closed, on a solid pillar that terminates in a base supported on four cabriole legs, the knees carved with acanthus. The legs terminate in scrolled feet. The top, with a new black leather insert, swivels open to double in size. These tables were multi-purpose, being used for both games and for refreshments such as tea.
The table is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The mahogany has a rich warm shade with a striking grain.
