British Colonial Mahogany Writing Table

Late 19th century

SGD 4,200

A British colonial mahogany writing table with a rectangular overhanging top that is mounted with a moulded ebony edge. It has one long drawer flanked by two short drawers, all with brass lionhead pulls. In the corners where the bottom of the frieze and the leg are coming together, the table is mounted with ebony embellishments.

The table is raised on four tapered and fluted legs that terminate in stunning brass claw feet

The table is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The mahogany has a rich warm shade with a striking grain.
