British Colonial Rosewood Daybed

Late 19th century

A British colonial open daybed in rosewood. The sides display twelve spindles each. The legs are elegantly turned and tapered and terminate with a ring and ball on a peg foot, all joined with plain square sectioned stretchers.  The replaced seat is caned in one continuous section and the seat height is 56 cm or 22”. Styled with luxury cushions from Good Earth.

The daybed is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
