British Colonial Rosewood Pen Box with Silver Inlay
Late 19th centuryA remarkable British colonial rosewood dome shaped pen box. The exterior of the box is reinforced with brass banding on the edges of the base and the lid, both for decoration and protection. The box has been further embellished with inlaid floral motifs in silver. Inside an interior with several small compartments, a lift out tray and two small secret drawers.
The box is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
