British Colonial Rosewood Writing DeskMid 19th century
A British colonial rosewood writing desk with a moulded, overhanging single plank top. The arched centre section of the frieze is decorated with sunburst and flanked by two short drawers with wooden pulls. The table is raised on circular reeded legs that are turned and tapering, with rings and ball at the top and ending with a ring and pegged foot.
The desk is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
