British Colonial Rosewood Round Dining Table
Mid 19th centuryA beautiful antique British colonial dining table in rosewood. The large circular top with gadrooning on the edge above the carved apron. It is supported on a column that is surrounded by three curved and scrolled spindles and rests on a flat tri-form base with hollowed side and claw feet. The column is composed of three carved sections, the lower section encircled by a wide band of leaves.
The top of the table is hinged to the central column in such a way that it can be tilted from a horizontal to a vertical position.
The table is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The rosewood has a dark shade with a striking grain.
