British Colonial Rosewood Round Dining TableEarly 19th century
A large antique British colonial round dining table in rosewood. The spectacular circular top is beautifully figured with a gadrooned edge above a apron carved with a floral design. The top of the table is hinged to the central column in such a way that it can be tilted from a horizontal to a vertical position using the original brass mechanism. It stands on a cylindrical turned pedestal with a beautifully carved baluster support and four splayed legs ending in brass lion head castors.
The table is of lovely large proportions and would easily seat eight. It is in good condition and has been lovingly restored to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing.
