British Colonial Teakwood Glass Front Sideboard

Mid 19th century

A British colonial glass front side board in teakwood. The overhanging top with a gadrooned edge above a frieze carved in a wave design with a fleur de-lis carving at the center and rosettes in the corner. The piece features two folding- or harmonica doors with four glass panels within a teakwood frame; they open to reveal two shelves. The base, finished with a gadrooned edge, rests on four melon sectioned inverted cup feet.

The sideboard is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Burma teak wood that this piece has been made of has a warm color and an attractive, straight grain.
