Rosewood Hand Carved Four Panel Screen
Beautiful hand carved and pierced room divider made of four identical rosewood panels. Each panel is beautifully designed with very nice geometric and floral jali work throughout. The panels are joined with hinges.
Jali is a Hindi word which means ‘net’. It is latticed screen, or ornamental open work, done in wood, stone or metal. It is used in wall panels, in window decoration and in garden lamps. At night, the light glittering out of the jali looks magical!
The screen is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
