Art Deco Teakwood Chest of Drawers
Early 20th centuryAn Art-Deco style chest of drawers in nicely grained teakwood with a small gallery on top. It features two short drawers over three larger ones, all drawers fitted with wooden pulls. The top and sides are made of single planks.
Art Deco was derived from the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, held in Paris in 1925, where the style was first exhibited. Art Deco design represented modernism turned into fashion. It combined modern styles with fine craftsmanship and rich materials.
The chest is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing.
