Art Deco Teakwood Side Table

Early 20th century

An elegant Art Deco style teakwood round side table with a glass top. The table is supported on four beautifully inward curving legs that connect on a solid, round rosewood base. The top of the legs are decorated with inlay rosewood squares. Like all Art Deco furniture, the distinguishing features of the style are simple, clean shapes, often with a “streamlined” look with geometric shapes.
Art Deco was derived from the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, held in Paris in 1925, where the style was first exhibited. Art Deco design represented modernism turned into fashion. It combined modern styles with fine craftsmanship and rich materials.

The table is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing.
