British Colonial Rosewood Armchairs

Mid 19th century

An elegant pair of British colonial upholstered armchairs made from rosewood. The chairs have a curved crest rail with fine decoration at the center. The solid arm supports feature two cabriole front legs with carving on the knees, terminating in a scroll and a peg foot. The square back legs are moderately racked. The chairs have been newly upholstered in a velvet zebra fabric with double piping. Black velvet on the sides and back. The seat height is 43 cm (17”).

The chairs are in good condition and have been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The rosewood has a rich dark shade with a striking grain.
