Anglo-Indian Mahogany Four Poster Bed
Late 19th centurySGD 9,400
A mid‑19th‑century inspired Anglo Indian colonial headboard, echoing late Georgian–Regency lines. The headboard features richly reeded posts and rails, a camelback crest with twin scrolls, and a central frieze of stylised sunburst rosettes linked by foliate cross‑rails, creating an elegant, openwork pattern that blends classical late Georgian and late Regency influenced lines with Indian floral carving. Corner posts are substantial, turned balusters with vertical fluting and a collar ring above the base, echoing classical column forms used on Anglo‑Indian and Raj beds. The four parts making the canopy are attached to brass ring at the top of the posts. On top of each post sets a nice finial. At the bottom the frame legs are square, tapered and rest on claw feet. The bed can be fully disassembled.
The bed is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The mahogany has a rich warm shade with a striking grain.
