British Colonial Rosewood Daybed

Late 19th century

A British colonial open daybed in rosewood. The sides scrolled and with three square, caned panels each. The legs are elegantly turned and tapered and terminate with a ring and ball on a peg foot, all joined with plain square sectioned stretchers.  The replaced seat is caned in one continuous section and the seat height is 55 cm or 21½”

The daybed is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The rosewood has a dark shade with a striking grain.
