British Colonial Ebony Centre Table
Mid 19th centuryA characteristic antique British colonial ebony centre table with a mottled black and white marble top with moulded edge above a deep, plain apron. The table stands on scrolled legs splaying out from a central base that has three curved spindles and a robust central column.
Ebony (Diospyrus Ebenum) is a black wood of very close grain, heavy in weight and native to Ceylon and Southern India. It is a beautiful and expensive wood.
