Portuguese Colonial Rosewood Bench
Late 19th centuryA richly carved antique Portuguese colonial bench in rosewood with a triple back. The shields of the balloon chair backs are carved in an elaborate floral pattern as are the undersides of the scrolled arms. The very deep, scalloped apron is reeded and has floral carving as well. The bench stands on two reeded, tapered front legs and two raked rear legs. This very decorative piece is finished with a new, caned seat.
