Portuguese Colonial Rosewood ChestEarly 19th century
A beautiful antique Portuguese colonial chest in rosewood. The piece is both decorated and strengthened by pierced brass cusps fixed at intervals round the sides. The front, back and sides feature a Portuguese inspired geometric carving. On the front a very nice brass escutcheon, on the sides brass carrying handles. Inside there is one small document compartment and two large brass hinges secure the lid to the back. The chest stands on bracket feet.
