British Colonial Mahogany Partners’ Desk
Mid 19th centuryA British colonial mahogany writing/partners desk with a rectangular moulded top with a black tooled leather writing insert. It sits above a deep frieze with floral carving, a rosewood moulded edge and two drawers on both sides with brass pulls. The desk stands on four attractive reeded tapered legs ending in a ring and peg foot.
Partners’ desks were first made to accommodate banking partners, usually senior bank officials who wished to work together while keeping the convenience and the prestige of a desk.
