British Colonial Revolving Desk Chair

Late 19th century

A British colonial revolving desk chair in rosewood with an arched crest back rail above a solid splat in the middle. Under the arms baluster uprights. The chair still has its original revolving mechanism, which allows it to revolve around its base. This base rests on four cabriole legs. The seat is newly caned, it’s height is 43 cm or 17”.

The chair is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
