British Colonial Rosewood Desk BoxLate 19th century
An antique British colonial rosewood desk box with a lid carved out of one piece of wood with a brass carrying handle on top. The exterior of the box is reinforced with brass banding on the edges, both for decoration and protection. Inside an interior with several small compartments and a lift out tray that reveals more storage space, including one secret compartment.
The box is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
