British Colonial Rosewood Desk BoxLate 19th century
A remarkable British colonial rosewood dome shaped desk box. The exterior of the box is reinforced with brass banding on the edges, both for decoration and protection. Inside an interior with several small compartments, including one secret compartment. It further features a lift out tray and still includes the original copper inkwells, sand shaker and letter opener.

The box is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
